Apollo's Hegemony L-Theanine Plus is a dietary supplement containing a combination of L-theanine (200 mg) and inositol (100 mg).
L-theanine - a non-protein amino acid found mainly in the leaves of Chinese tea (Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze). It is an evergreen shrub, grown in about 30 countries around the world. When exposed to sunlight, the L-theanine found in the leaves is converted into polyphenols, so some growers cultivate this shrub away from direct sunlight.
L-theanine is one of the most important active substances in green tea, right next to caffeine and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). It shows structural similarity to the neurotransmitters GABA and glutamate and has the ability to penetrate the blood-brain barrier.
Inositol - a compound also referred to (though incorrectly) as vitamin B8. It is actually a vitamin-like substance that is an isomer of glucose. There are nine steroisomers of inositol, but in nature and in dietary supplements the most common are myo-inositol and d-chiro-inositol. When inositol is found in a given product, it is usually the myo-isomer that is referred to.
