MZ-Store Acerola is a dietary supplement in the form of capsules containing acerola extract, standardized to contain min. 25% of vitamin C.
Acerola (Malpighia glabra), also called the cherry from Barbados, is a plant naturally occurring in tropical countries, distinguished by a very sour taste. Acerola fruits are rich in vitamin C and a number of phytochemicals, such as anthocyanins and flavonoids. Their significant content is the main cause of their exceptionally high antioxidant potential.
Naturally rich in vitamin C
The acerola fruit is a natural source of vitamin C, which is why it is often used to make vitamin C concentrates. Vitamin C helps protect cells from oxidative stress and helps regenerate the reduced form of vitamin E, which is also an important antioxidant.
In addition, vitamin C supports the proper functioning of immune system cells and contributes to optimal energy metabolism. Vitamin C also participates in the synthesis of collagen - the basic connective tissue protein, necessary for the proper functioning of the skin, blood vessels, bones, gums, and teeth.
The synergy of antioxidant action
Natural vitamin C has the advantage over synthetic vitamin C in that it is mostly found in the company of phytochemicals, such as flavonoids. Flavonoids potentiate the antioxidant effect of vitamin C and also have a beneficial effect on its bioavailability.
