AH Hydroxocobalamin Tabs is a dietary supplement containing vitamin B12 as hydroxocobalamin.
Vitamin B12 is basically a group of compounds (cobalamins) that have a cobalt atom in their structure. These forms differ in substituents, i.e. chemical groups that affect, among other things, the activity and stability of a given form of vitamin B12. One form of vitamin B12 is hydroxocobalamin, which has a hydroxyl group in its molecule.
Hydroxycobalamin is an unmethylated form of vitamin B12, meaning that it does not provide methyl groups. It is an inactive form (like cyanocobalamin), but it converts easily in the body to metabolically active forms.
